Can all persons be happy ?

By Nichole Vernon <nichole317@excite.com>

Can all persons be happy ? Honestly, no. No matter what a person has in life, they will never be truly happy. The richest man in the world can say that he is truly happy but he really isn't because he has everything that money can buy except for the little things that really matter. The poorest person in the world will never be happy because he has the little things that really matter but not the material items he really wants. We can all say that we are happy with our lives right now because we are alive, going to school, growing up, experiencing relationships, and enjoying our freedom but deep down inside there is a small part of us that will never be satisfied. We don't know what it is but we know it exists. So, do what you think makes you happy but ask yourself if you are truly happy and if that small void inside of you has been fulfilled.

I believe that people can truely be happy, but that people will never be completely satisfied. I enjoyed your paper!

I disagree. People such as John Fling are satisfied and happy. He has very little b/c he chooses to give all of his time and possessions to the needy. In return, he receives self gratification which for him, is the sole necessity for happiness.

that was a good point. i'm glad someone knows that all people can't be happy.

I feel people can be happy, but it does not hurt to strive for more.

Cynthia Glanton <cynthia_glanton@hotmail.com>

I agree. No matter what a person may do, he/she may never be truly happy.

some people will never truly be happy, i do see your points, they are valid

I believe that people can be truely happy. Of course, I personally have never been completely happy because I always want something more than what I have. But I do believe that someday I will be truely happy if I work hard enough to achieve it. It can happen...right?

Will Mulkey <wrmulkey@hotmail.com>

To be happy, you must first know what will really make you happy. It may not always be what you think. Good job!

Chad Williams <czm_1@hotmail.com>

I couldn't agree more.

In western thinking, you can never be happy, but as eastern philosophy states, if you have no expectations, you can't be dissatisfied... EVERYONE CHASE THAT SLUG!!!

Karen <karen_long@email.com>

I think that some people can truly be happy, although the number is very few. I really didn't agree whole-heartedly, but I do think you covered your topic well.

Crystal Gray <cgray32@hotmail.com>

Good job.

jason stansill <jasonstansill@hotmail.com>

I don't know if I agree with you! What about short term happiness? Also in order to be happy you must avoid things that are not. But good paper!

I think that you have to know what your happiness is before one can decide to be fulfilled, or not. Interesting view.

I'm torn here between ideas. Eastern ideas about expectation seem to make sense. However, is it better to not have anything to strive for? Is there validity in life without any desire? Can there be any sort of balance between these ideas?
